Beachbody’s Tai Cheng

Tai Cheng is a 90-day complete conditioning program meant to strengthen your weakest muscles, firm and tone without bulking, and to burn calories while improving mobility, balance and flexibility. Tai Cheng is a collaboration between Beachbody and Dr. Mark Cheng, a tai chi master.

This program is seemingly geared toward older people, but it really works for everyone; tai cheng is not as fast-paced or strenuous as some of the other programs out there, and anyone can gain something, whether it’s weight loss, increased flexibility or athletic performance, or just more energy and vitality. Tai Cheng is available online from the Beachbody website for three monthly payments of $39.95, which is a low price to pay for the benefits the program offers.

Jillian Michaels’ Body Revolution

If you’re looking to shed weight and whip your body into shape, look no further than Jillian Michaels Body Revolution. The 90-day program is divided into three phases, each with four metabolic training sessions and one cardio workout. Phase 1 combines four fat-melting moves with low-impact cardio for increased caloric burn. Phase 2 offers more dynamic moves, greater resistance and more challenging combinations of exercises. Phase 3 builds upon the movements from the other two phases, and includes high-impact, intense cardio conditioning to help you perfect your physique and shed fat.

Techniques used include supersetting, compound movement, plyometrics, peripheral heart action, high intensity interval training (HIIT), and bodyweight training—among many others. The moves in this program burn calories at an accelerated rate during the workout, but its maker claims that they also accelerate metabolism so you continue to burn fat and calories long after the workout is over. The kit includes 15 DVDs and everything else you need to complete the program, and it’s available from Jillian Michaels’ website for four payments of $29.95.

Both of the programs described here are designed to meet different fitness goals, and both have their place in a well-rounded exercise program. With the programs above and a sensible diet, you can almost certainly lose weight and get in better shape.\
